Workshop 1: Legislation and Unconscious Bias

Welcome to the first workshop of the Fife Equality and Diversity Professional Learning Course.

In this session we will focus first on core legislation relevant to equalities in the education context (the Equality Act 2010, and links to Public Sector Equality Duty / UNCRC). We will then explore and raise awareness of Unconscious Bias, and how it can impact the decision making. We will conclude with a discussion on practical approaches for tackling unconscious bias.

Increased knowledge of the Equality Act 2010, and related equalities legislation
Increased awareness of unconscious bias and its potential impact(s)
Increased confidence in strategies to tackle bias in the workplace and school environment
